WK 8 exc Online application of tools

Thought this was a great site, because anyone can access and use word documents and spreadsheets without having to download software. The major thing being it's free. You can also access word documents whenever you have internet access, and you don't have to worry about having a compatable computer when using or sending data. I can see why this could have an impact on Microsoft Office as far as people buying their software. I can see the positive side for multiple users being able to edit files, but I also think this could have a negative aspect aswell.

Wk 6 exc Tagging Folksonomies and Technorati

Del.icio.us is like a different version of Favourites. Tagging can be used in many of the websites like Flickr and Library thing for time saving, easy access through the use of subject headings or key words. This would be a valuable tool for both personal and work usage.

WK 5 exc Play Week

Who can resist the title "Play Week".
Library Thing is a great tool (if you happen to like reading books). I felt this could be useful in many different ways for both personal and work useage.
I enjoyed my playtime!

WK 2 exc Blogging

I have set up my blog and ready to go.
There's even a book in the Library called Blogging for Dummies, just what I need!
This is an interesting way of expressing your thoughts of newly discovered websites and your learning experience of some of the various technologies that are available.

WK 9 exc 22 The end

The web 2.0 has made me aware of many different sites available online.
Because as a Library we need to be able to assist (where possible) with many questions relating to online sites, this web 2.0 excercise is helping us achieve this through making us aware of what technology is available on various websites. Overall this was really good to do, even though at times it was very fustrating I must say it's been worth while.
The end is nigh!

WK 9 exc 21 audiobooks

This is a great idea, and I believe that it is acknowledging the diverse and varied mediums that are available for our customers to enjoy using. This would in particular be great for not only the visually disabled, but for the elderly (once they got the hang of using mp3 players, which is where the grandchildren might come in handy!).
As a bonus, I would imagine this could be quite cost effective.

WK 9 exc 20 Youtube

Although I found the site and online video clips interesting and very amusing at times, I can't help my over-riding negative view of this particular instrument that can be viewed world wide. I know these sites are very well used and for most part not miss-used, but for my own personal point of view I feel I can't put a video clip to this blog.

WK 7 exc15 web 2.0 My thoughts so far

I thought the articles were very inciteful and interesting, and that they said most of what I wanted to say. Paragraphs that spoke to me were:
Libraries are not merely in communities, they are communities.
Librarian 2.0 is the "strategy guide" for helping users find information and gather knowledge.
Librays need to seek out information and news that may impact future services.
Libraies are guided by how users access and consume information.
Web 2.0 is reaching out to the entire web.

WK 1 exc 1 Now it begins

Hopefully this will work. Learning heaps. I thought the first paragraphs of the web 2.o introduction were really good. It stated we would be learning about technologies on the web, as new technology are changing the way people, society and Libraries access information and communicate with eachother. I thought this was very true and relevant.
